Operational Leadership

 

Guy Bedard, Director, International Operations

Guy Bedard is responsible for the day-to-day international operations, provides, designs and implements operational tactics, including ongoing monitoring and measurement of progress. As well he is responsible for client relationship management opportunity management and estimating for regions outside of Canada, including Mexico. He also manages the RFQ/RFP processes for these regions, as well as any other targeted countries. Mr. Bedard is a seasoned mining professional with extensive technical and operations management experience, and diversified international experience having worked throughout the Americas, including in Mexico and Peru. He holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from Laval University and is a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

                           

Brendan Zuidema, General Manager, Canadian Operations  

Brendan Zuidema is responsible for all aspects of Dumas’ operations in Canada, including projects in the Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario as well as the Timmins Maintenance Facility. A seasoned mining executive, Mr. Zuidema has more than 25 years of experience including 10 years in senior management roles with both contractors and mining companies, most recently as the Mine General Manager for Goldcorp’s Porcupine Gold Mines, and prior to that the General Manager for Liberty Mines. Mr. Zuidema is passionate about Health, Safety, and the Environment, and has a strong CSR background working with many Government, Community, and First Nations entities. Mr. Zuidema is a graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines as a Mining Engineering Technologist, and has a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Schulich school of Business.


   

Gilbert Dion, Area Manager, Quebec

Gilbert Dion is responsible for the overall performance of contracts in the Quebec area. This includes overseeing project management to ensure projects are operating safely and productively, maintaining client relations, and reporting. Mr. Dion has more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry, with particular expertise managing shaft projects. With Dumas since 2005, prior to his appointment as Area Manager he successfully managed two concurrent shaft sinking projects which started within months of each other – the Lac des Iles shaft for North American Palladium outside Thunder Bay, Ontario, and the Lalor shaft for HudBay in Snow Lake, Manitoba. Mr. Dion oversaw all aspects from mobilization to procurement and engineering, and managed an overall workforce of 150 people including all sub-contractors. Mr. Dion holds a diploma in Mining Engineering Technology from College Abitibi-Temiscamingue, and has completed numerous post graduate courses.


    
              

Pablo Gonzalez, Country Manager, Guatemala  

Pablo Gonzalez leads our activities within the Guatemala region. With more than 25 years of relevant experience in underground mining and construction, Mr. Gonzalez's expertise spans project management, contract management, operational safety, project control, construction work, and environmental leadership. Prior to joining Dumas, Mr. Gonzalez spent 13 years working on shaft, development, and production projects in Latin America and North America with Redpath International Underground Operations, and also worked with Mas Errazuriz Contracting of Chile for eight years. Mr. Gonzalez holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering.
