Ore Production at Casa Berardi:
Commodity: Gold (Au)
Since June 2005, Dumas has worked with Hecla (and previously Aurizon Mines) to maximize the Casa Berardi Mine’s profitability. Dumas has carried out ore production mining in large stopes and in numerous Alimak, timber and conventional raises to supply 1,800 tons per day milling facility.
From 2005 to 2006, Dumas sunk an 820 meter circular concrete shaft (5.5 meters diameter) driven with pluggers. The scope of the shaft sinking project included the excavation and construction of shaft stations and the installation of all mechanical and electrical hardware.
Subsequent to the completion of the shaft, Dumas has since excavated approximately 9,000 meters of ramp per year, level development and drawpoints, all mine construction, rehabilitation and ground support. Dumas’ underground mine development services have also included the development and operation of the mine.
The remoteness of this northern Quebec mine has presented a range of logistical challenges for the supply of equipment, material and a skilled workforce.
