Jacob Timmers Shaft

In 2010, Dumas commenced work on shaft sinking and mine development at the Jacob Timmers Shaft in Cerro de Pasco, Peru.

Dumas was contracted to sink a 585-metre-deep, 4.4-metre-diameter concrete-lined shaft. Work included shaft sinking, station development, and construction of a loading pocket. The project’s extreme altitude of 4,636 metres AMSL posed significant logistical and workforce challenges, requiring specialized planning and support. Despite these conditions, Dumas completed the majority of work with zero lost-time injuries for over two years.

Scope of Work

  • 585m x 4.4m diameter concrete-lined shaft
  • Off-shaft construction, including loading pocket and access stations
  • Shaft furnishings and ground support installations
