Kidd Mine

In 2002, Dumas commenced work at Kidd Mine, one of the world’s deepest base metal mines, located in Timmins, Ontario. Owned and operated by Glencore (formerly Xstrata), Kidd Mine has required extensive development, rehabilitation, and infrastructure projects across its lower levels.

From 2002 to 2011, Dumas excavated an average of 5,000 metres per year from multiple lateral development headings. At 9,600 feet below the surface, Dumas crews also advanced one of the deepest ramps in the world. Until 2011, the team completed approximately 1,000 metres per year of raise work, in addition to multiple construction projects such as refuge stations, bin rehabilitations, and manways. More recently, Dumas has undertaken major construction and rehabilitation initiatives, including refurbishing the 46-1 waste pass and fine ore bin, while maintaining a continuous presence on-site to provide contractor support and supplemental manpower.
